Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly prompt by The Broke and the Bookish and The Artsy Reader Girl. The list is 400+ strong — so, not wanting to miss anything, I started at prompt #1. This week’s prompt is “Villains, Criminals, and other Nasties”.
- Napoleon, Animal Farm – You wouldn’t expect a character modelled after Stalin to be a good guy …
- Captain Hook, Peter Pan – Quite possibly the best type of baddie there is … As the great man said: “What would the world be like without Captain Hook?”
- Mr and Mrs Twit, The Twits – This book was read to me back in grade 2. While I haven’t touched it since then, I fondly remember the horribly wicked Mr. and Mrs. Twit – especially Mr. Twit’s rancid beard.
- Everest, Into Thin Air – Though, Everest is less of the baddie in this book as is hubris. Summit fever is a thing.
- Cersei Lannister, Game of Thrones – Plotting, vicious, and narcissistic. Only she could spawn something as awful as Joffrey.
- Evil Stepmothers – A feature of just about fairy tale … ever.
- The Red Queen, Queen of the Tearling – Oh yeah. A childhood grudge is a great reason to practice dark magic, murder thousands, and enslave even more.
- Amarantha, A Court of Thorns and Roses – One word: Sadist. (And, come to think of it, she’d probably be BFFs with The Red Queen.) [Image Source]
- The Hunters, Never Cry Wolf – I felt nauseated reading the epilogue of this book. Want some real life monsters? Here they are.
- Social Media, Ten Arguments for Deleting Your Social Media Accounts Right Now – One of the insidious baddies we’re faced with today. Social media and big data is scary.
