Review | The Fox and the Star by Coralie Bickford-Smith

25387851I stumbled upon this completely by accident — stopping off at a new shop while on my way to the library. It was an utter binge buy, and one that I’d make again in a heartbeat.

This. is. such. a. beautiful. book.

The Fox and the Star is a gorgeous cloth-bound children’s book, which tells the story of fox and his friendship with star. The story itself is slow, still, and somewhat sad, and has the feel of a traditional fable – something that wouldn’t seem out of place in an Aesop collection. While there isn’t an overt moral message, the book does carry several subtle lessons. It’s something that deserves multiple readings.

The show-stealer, though, is the illustrations.
